In Joshua Tickell's first independent film he shows you what life on the road in "the Van" is like. We follow Joshua on a cross-country venture from Sarasota, FL through Texas, the northeast US, across the Midwest, into Colorado and Nevada and up California from Los Angeles to San Francisco.

We watch Tickell get a ticket, talk to Jim Hightower and be interviewed by the Today Show. We see America through the windows of the only van ever to do a 2-year long adventure across the USA on biodiesel fuel made from used French fry oil.

The DVD includes an exclusive 30-minute interview with the filmmaker. Use your DVD up/down buttons to select a question and Joshua explains the answer or scroll through the interview with your Next/Previous Scene buttons.

DVD also has bonus "Veggie Van" slide show set to the song "Biodiesel Van" by Melissa Crabtree.

  About the Author

Josh Tickell is a published author, filmmaker, public speaker and renowned activist.

His unusual history with biodiesel started at The New College of South Florid. His studies lead him to the former East Germany to work on an accredited agriculture program. While working on a farm, Joshua saw the farmers pouring a yellow liquid into their tractors. They explained that the liquid was called biodiesel and was made from vegetable oil grown in their own fields.

Since that day Josh has driven thousands of miles across the USA in his biodiesel powered van, "the Veggie Van".

He has spoken nationally and internationally for governments, state legislates, educational facilities and at many environmental events.

Tickell's first book "From the Fryer to the Fuel Tank - The Complete Guide to Using Vegetable Oil as an Alternative Fuel" has sold over 22,000 copies and is accredited as being at the forefront of starting the US movement towards biodiesel.

After producing his first short film "The Veggie Van Voyage" he is currently making a full-length documentary film "Fields of Fuel".

Tickell's second book "Biodiesel America" is due for release Fall 2005.

  Reviews

Demand Media
In 1997 Josh Tickell, then a student at New College of Florida, found out about biodiesel, a fuel that you can make out of vegetable oil and run in an unmodified diesel vehicle. To spread the gospel about this renewable fuel with a fraction of the polluting emissions of petrofuels he dropped out of school and drove the Veggie Van across the US, fueling the van with the free waste oil from fast food restaurants along the way. He did workshops, talked to local media but most of all he engaged one on one with people attracted by the words painted on the van, "This Vehicle gets 1300 Miles Per Acre"………….

Film Threat
Rejoice all ye freethinking, tree-hugging, Darwinist liberals! Just when we're feeling at our absolute worst, bracing for "Four More Years!" (to be droned in a militantly Southern accent), here comes a little film about a not-so little idea to warm our troubled hearts. It's "The Veggie Van Voyage" and it… may have already come to a town near you……………

Elements
The van visited 20 major cities and 25 states where people smelled the clean, french fry-like exhaust. Over 40 million people saw the multicolored Veggie Van drive across their television screens. Thousands of people attended presentations about the van, and hundreds of thousands more read about the van in their local newspapers……….
